The right container for your furniture
Furniture takes up a lot of space: a 40ft High Cube container (76 m³) is often the most cost-effective choice from 15 m³. Below that, sea groupage or rail let you ship a few pallets.
- Supervised loading at the factory, photos of the container before sealing
- Corner protection, film and reinforced strapping
- Delivery in France with tail-lift or on-site unloading
- Ad valorem insurance recommended (0.35% of value)
Duties and obligations
Most furniture (chapter 94) is duty-free in the EU; only 20% VAT applies. In France, companies placing furniture on the market must join an extended producer responsibility scheme (eco-contribution). Also check the safety requirements for bedding and children's furniture.
Usually 0% (chapter 94), VAT 20%. Exceptions possible: check your TARIC code.
