Which container should I choose?

  • 20ft: for heavy, dense goods (metal parts, tiles, tyres) or up to about 28 m³.
  • 40ft: for 30 to 58 m³ of average goods.
  • 40ft High Cube: 30 cm taller, ideal for furniture and light, bulky products.
  • Reefer: temperature-controlled goods.
  • Open top: tall machinery loaded from above by crane.

In practice a container is rarely filled to 100%: allow 25 to 28 m³ usable in a 20ft, 55 to 58 m³ in a 40ft and 65 to 68 m³ in a 40ft HC. See our sea freight rates and our transport mode comparison.
