Heavy parts are loaded in a 20ft container to respect payload limits; tall or bulky machines go in open top or flat rack. For regular flows, rail and road offer more stable transit times than sea.

Duties and compliance
Car parts are often taxed between 2.7 and 4.5%, machinery between 0 and 4%. Some Chinese steel and aluminium products are subject to anti-dumping duties. Machinery must comply with the Machinery Directive and come with a technical file.
